I get this question so many times, in fact it kind of shows me how annoying some brands and people can be on Social Media – ‘How do I stop seeing a friends post on Facebook without unfriending them?’ Thankfully Facebook have thought of this and I will show you how to do this with your smart phone.
Facebook is a super way of staying in touch with friends and family, following businesses, journals and news sites. However, it can also be one annoying place to be sometimes. We send friend requests excited to connect with our new buddy, you got on so well with them that you’ll be greate mates on Facebook too. Unfortunately that’s not always the case, they many just be that friend who overshares evey poop their kid has, the one who brings us down with their moaning and attention seeking vaguebooking (“So angry!” holding out for the wave of “What’s wrong hon?”, “You ok?”) or the one that just winds us up in general.
You always have the option of unfriending them, however that’s not always a good idea. Unfriending is obvious and can cause trouble – how do you explain to your aquantace that you see every day that on Facebook they are a moany hole! As a more extreme option you can also block them however this is reciprocal. If you block them you cannot interact with them and they cannot interact with you. It will unfriend them and will also prevent them from being able to add you as a friend again – so it’s a bit more of a two finger salute than a standard unfriend.
You have a third option, that reduces the chance of offending someone but will stop you from seeing their posts and give you a little more peace in your life. You have the wonderful option of unfollowing them. They will not know that you have unfollowed them and they will still be able to see your updates. You can visit their profile and view their updates if you wish, they can still tag you in photos, post to your page and all the other normal activites of being a friend on Facebook.
Unfollowing a friend on Facebook can be done in 3 simple steps.
Step 1 – Go to their profile and select the ‘Following’ button, just below their profile picture.
Step 2 – You will now see a menu with 3 options, select the ‘Unfollow’ option.
Step 3 – Once you’ve selected ‘Unfollow’ your done, you can now go on a wild unfollowing spree by clicking on the ‘Yes’ button for ‘Interested in reviewing more people and Pages you follow?’
For this I used my husband’s account and don’t worry I didn’t really unfollow him. He’s a little boring but not too bad. 😜
