Digital Marketing is full of the same kind of people and after years of working with clients and the tech industry, I’ve seen a lot of things that give Digital Marketers, SEO experts and Web Developers a bad name. From following so many people on social media too there are a number of things that irk me and I thought I would make sure I didn’t do them and let you know a few facts. Whether you are readers, clients, competition or followers these are my fact and promises to you.
On Social Media
I enjoy social media for business and I want you to enjoy it too. On all my social media platforms I will provide you with posts that add value to you. I will not post just to promote myself and my services. I will provide you with information that helps you to expand your mind, facts that are useful and utterly ridiculous, cartoons and images that make you giggle – all of this will be almost relevant to Digital Marketing (Instagram is a bit more relaxed). Social media is supposed to be social so I will chat, converse, respond and have some fun with you – if you’re not Irish you may need to look up the definition of slagging.
Many of my social media posts are scheduled in advance on Hootsuite, that’s because my phone is not part of my anatomy and this allows me to give you consistently interesting content. Once a week I like to promote a ‘local’ business (Ireland is pretty small so this could be anywhere really), I only do this if I have been there or worked with you and experienced how great you are. This is my way of giving back and it’s nice.
Social media is supposed to be social so I will chat, converse, respond and have some fun with you – if you’re not Irish you may need to look up the definition of slagging. If I am following you on social media platforms I will mention you and retweet you if I think you deserve it. I will only follow businesses that I think are benefiting the social network or me!
While blogging I will provide you with original content that is based on my own knowledge and experience. I will research each topic and deliver it to you in a way that you can understand. None of my blog content will be copied or regurgitated from other blogs. If I don’t have time to write a blog post or I see that my website ranking is reducing I will not begin to produce weak content that lacks substance just to make up for a low word count. I enjoy blogging and can write, however, I am dyslexic and will always miss spelling so feel free to contact me and tell me if I’ve missed something. My dyslexia is no reflection of how good I am at my job, it is something annoying that I have to live with.
If you are a client I will not tell you lies about my availability or timelines. If I don’t know something I will admit it, and if I can’t help you with something I will tell you. I am dyslexic and like to tell you so you don’t get frustrated by spelling mistakes, I always check my spelling but sometimes is just looks right and I cannot see the mistake – my dyslexia is no reflection of how good I am at my job, it is something annoying that I have to live with. I charge for all my time, this includes meetings travel and my work – so don’t get offended when you get a bill for it. I keep you up to date about how much time I am spending on your project too, so hopefully, you don’t get a bill that will scare the life out of you.
